Product Details

Doosan excavators—now globally rebranded as DEVELON—are heavy construction machines renowned for their industry-leading cycle times, high digging torque, and cutting-edge autonomous technology.

To easily identify models, note that Doosan’s standard naming convention uses “DX” (Doosan Excavator), followed by the tonnage class (e.g., DX140 represents a 14-metric-ton machine).

The fleet is organized into the following core categories:

1. Crawler Excavators (Tracked Models)

These are the backbone of the brand’s fleet. They feature heavy-duty steel tracks for superior traction, stability, and ground pressure distribution across soft or rugged terrain. They are sub-divided by weight:

  • Midi / Medium Crawlers (10 to 25 Metric Tons): Popular for utility work, road building, and commercial construction. Examples include the highly versatile DX140LC and DX225LC.
  • Large / Heavy Crawlers (26 to 100+ Metric Tons): Engineered with immense breakout force for mass excavation, heavy quarrying, and mining operations. Examples include the DX350LC, DX530LC, and the massive DX800LC.

2. Wheeled Excavators

Instead of tracks, these models are built on a rubber-tired chassis. They are highly favored for urban infrastructure, bridge repairs, and ditch cleaning because they can drive directly on asphalt or concrete surfaces without causing structural damage.

  • Key Models: Series like the DX140W and DX210W allow contractors to travel between jobsites quickly without requiring a separate transport trailer.

3. Mini & Compact Excavators (Under 10 Metric Tons)

Designed for landscaping, residential trenching, and tight, urban job sites where maneuverability is critical.

  • Key Models: Ranges from the tiny 2.7-ton DX27Z up to the heavy-duty 8.5-ton DX85R.
  • Tail Configurations: These often carry a “Z” (Zero Tail Swing) or “R” (Reduced Tail Swing) designation, meaning the rear counterweight rotates completely within the width of the tracks to prevent colliding with walls or trees.

4. Specialty & Configuration Categories

Doosan adapts its standard tracked and wheeled platforms into unique structural configurations for distinct industries:

  • Long Reach (SLR): Equipped with ultra-long booms and arms designed specifically for deep river dredging, canal clean-outs, and slope finishing.
  • High Reach Demolition: Fitted with multi-piece high-demolition booms and heavily reinforced, tilting cabs to safely dismantle multi-story concrete structures from the ground up.
  • Material Handlers / Log Loaders: Built with a hydraulically elevating cab tower and specialized grape/sorting attachments for scrap metal yards, recycling centers, and timber forestry sites.

5. Next-Gen Electric Excavators

The newest evolution in the lineup focuses on zero-emission and low-noise operations.

  • Key Models: Includes the DX20ZE (mini electric), DX160WE (wheeled electric), and the heavy-duty DX250LCE (crawler electric), designed specifically for indoor demolition, tunneling, or strict emission-controlled urban zones.

Following the acquisition of Doosan by HD Hyundai, the brand transitioned from the name Doosan to DEVELON. It operates as an independent global premium brand alongside Hyundai under the parent umbrella, shifting its focal core toward “Trusted Innovation” and high-end tech customization.

The key advantages and features of Doosan (DEVELON) excavators include:

Exceptional Speed and Work Cycle Times

  • High Hydraulic Flow: Utilizing advanced Rexroth hydraulic pumps and in-house customized travel motors, these excavators cycle through dumping and digging motions faster than many market competitors.
  • High Torque Swing Devices: Built with specialized Doosan Mottrol Hydraulic Systems, they deliver incredible swing torque, allowing the machine to easily spin uphill or move dense, saturated material without lagging

Pioneering Autonomous & Smart Technology

  • Concept-X2 Solutions: DEVELON leads the industry in driverless construction, integrating auto-digging, auto-loading, and 3D machine grading with Tilt-Rotator control systems directly into their autonomous fleet lineup.
  • Augmented Reality (AR) Guidance: Operators and service teams can use an AR Guidance App  that projects 3D component modeling and real-time sensor data over the machine to simplify remote diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Virtual Wall Limits: Users can program electronic boundaries (ceiling, floor, or side walls) within the system. This feature automatically locks or stops the boom before it impacts overhead utility lines or structural hazards.

Next-Gen AI Safety Features

  • Smart Around View Monitoring (SAVM): Upgraded to use a 6-camera array, the machine utilizes onboard artificial intelligence to recognize human shapes. It alerts the operator visually and audibly if a ground worker walks into the active radius.
  • Radar Object Warning & E-Stop: If an object or worker enters a hazardous zone behind the machine and the operator fails to respond, the radar system automatically triggers an emergency deceleration or stop to prevent an accident.

Ergo-Comfort Operator Cabs

  • Premium Pressurized Cabins: The cabs feature sound-deadening insulation, automatic climate control, and low-vibration seating to keep operators fresh during long shifts.
  • High-Definition Displays: Next-generation models come equipped with two 12.8-inch high-definition monitors to handle navigation, telemetry, safety cameras, and lifting load-assist data simultaneously.

Serviceability and Lower Maintenance Costs

1,000-Hour Intervals: Engineering upgrades have effectively doubled the lifespan of standard consumables, stretching engine oil, oil filter, and fuel filter replacement cycles out to 1,000 hours to reduce maintenance costs.
